Light Rigid (LR)

This licence is limiting as drivers are restricted to a maximum GVM of 8 tonne (majority of delivery trucks have a GVM of 15 tonne and over). Larger mobile homes can often be LR vehicles:

  • Client to provide own vehicle – $90 per hour – RTA conditions apply

Medium Rigid (MR)

This licence will allow the licence holder to drive any heavy vehicle with two axles: goods delivery vehicles, coaches, school buses etc. Clients holding MR licence for one year are eligible to undertake Heavy Combination (Semi-trailer) training.

  • Cost $950
  • Competency Based Assessment in CHWA vehicle (no RTA driver testing)
  • Approximately 9 hours to complete
  • Alternate training or assessment options available

Heavy Rigid (HR) GVM 24 Tonne

Our HR truck has a 9-speed ‘Road Ranger’ gearbox (crash box) and our clients gain the UNRESTRICTED HR Licence. Make sure that you are aware this fact when comparing trainers. The Restricted “B Class” licence provides far fewer job opportunities.

This licence will allow the licence holder to drive any heavy rigid vehicle with three or four axles including buses/coaches. Clients holding HR licence for one year are eligible to undertake training for HC (Heavy Combination/ Semi-trailer) or MC (Multiple Combination/ B-Double) licences.

  • Cost $135 per hour
  • If client provides own vehicle – $90 per hour – RTA conditions apply
  • Competency Based Assessment in CHWA vehicle (no RTA driver testing)
  • Takes a minimum of 7 hours to complete (RTA regulations)
  • Most people take approximately hours to complete
  • The completion time depends on the ability of the client

Heavy Combination (HC) Semi-Trailer

Client to provide own vehicle – $90 per hour – RTA conditions apply

  • Competency Based Assessment in CHWA vehicle (no RTA driver testing)
  • Takes a minimum of 7 hours to complete  (RTA regulations)
  • Regular HR drivers take approximately 10 hours to complete
  • The completion time depends on the ability of the client

Multiple Combination (MC) B-Double

At this stage we do not offer training for this licence.
